2007 Amador County Old Vine Zinfandel

2007 Amador County Zinfandel from 140 Year Old Vines – When you drive our Shenandoah Valley roads, you’ll notice some really odd looking grape vines. They look knarly and misshapen and untrained and old. That’s because they ARE knarly, misshapen, untrained and really old Zin. Younger vines produce more grapes… Other wines sell for more money… So why would anyone keep these old Zin vines? Simple: They create some of the most incredible tasting wine in the world. The vineyard that produced our Old Vine Zin was planted on the Deaver Ranch in the 1870’s. We’ve included a bottle in our Winter 2009 Selection as our way of saying, “Thank you.” Our supply is limited. Don’t wait to order more for your own cellar.
Regular Retail Price: $27.99 per bottle

2007 Signature Zinfandel

2007 Signature Zinfandel – We set aside the very best of our harvest for our Signature Wine series. Over the years our Wine Club members have come to anticipate the release of our Signature Zin as marking the end of summer and the return of cool evenings with the bolder meals that require a really sturdy wine on the table. This year, we think you’ll really enjoy our 2007 Signature Zinfandel with dishes like our Shenandoah Valley Filet of Beef Stroganoff or Deaver Zin-Chili, both of which are featured in the recipe section of our website. Plan to enjoy this wine with good food and your very best friends.

2007 Amador County Primitivo

2007 Amador County Primitivo – In keeping with our Winter 2009 collection of Zinfandel wines, we invite you to join one of the most interesting questions in our industry: Just what is the relationship of Zin to Primitivo? Are they the same? Are they different? Are they cousins? In 1993, after years of study, Professor Carole Meredith at the University of California, Davis determined that their DNA is identical. Yet through variations in plantings and cultures, the two wines remain separated. Proponents of each are “sure” the wines these vines produce are different. You can conduct your own taste test and then let us know whether you think they are the same or different. In either case, we invite you to stock up on our 2007 vintages so that you don’t run out of either or both or whichever… ENJOY!!
