 Deaver Vineyards Zin-Chili Soup
 Pair with Deaver Signature Zinfandel (available ONLINE)

Ingredients:

3 lbs. ground turkey
1-1/2 cups chopped onion
2 red bell peppers, chopped
2 green bell peppers, chopped
2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 cans kidney beans (15 ounces each)
2 cans diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces each)
1 can corn (15 ounce)
1 cup Deaver Vineyards 2005 Signature Zinfandel
8 cups tomato juice
4 cups chicken stock or water
1 jar salsa (16 ounce) to taste
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1-1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt to taste

Toppings:

Chopped green onions
Mexican style shredded cheese
Guacamole
Sour cream
Corn chips

Stovetop Preparation:

In a large pot over medium heat, saute ground turkey and onion for 5 minutes, or until browned. Drain excess fat and add red and green peppers, potatoes, beans, diced tomatoes, corn, wine, tomato juice, chicken stock, and salsa. Stir in chili powder, cumin, oregano, and salt to taste. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to low. Simmer 1 hour and serve with toppings.

Slow-cooker Preparation:

Saute meat and onion then add all ingredients to slow cooker and place on low for 8 hours.

Serving Suggestion:

Set up a soup bar with bowls, utensils, and festive napkins. Place toppings in decorative bowls around covered soup tureen filled with Zin-Chili soup on the table. Place 
breadsticks, heated rolled tortillas, or cornbread on the side. Let your guests help themselves.
